In 1945, two Egyptians, digging for natural fertilizer found a sealed storage jar which contained 52 ancient  Christian texts. Included are: the  Secret Book of James, the Gospel of Thomas, the Book of Thomas, and the Secret Book of John. These are known as the Four Gnostic Gospels. These texts were considered major heresies by the early Christian church.

  14. William Tyndale made the first English translation of the Bible. But because it was based on Luther's Protestant Bible, he was caught and burned at the stake.  He was celebrated and well liked, however, so they were kind to him and strangled him before they burned him.
